Chasing Wellness in Menopause
Wellness is a meeting of the minds.
Wellness is like a meeting of the minds, a total merge of physical, spiritual, and mental well-being.
Beyond good health, wellness is the full package, what most of us strive for. It reminds me of when people talk about others living their best life. Let’s say you’re cruising through life, and things are going pretty well. Suddenly, you feel a shift…not quite yourself, and more than off-kilter.
You begin to notice shifts in sleeping patterns, unexpected weight gain, and mood dysregulation. Perhaps you talk to a close girlfriend or consult a medical professional. Perhaps you read something online that gets you thinking this may have something to do with “The Change.”
Let’s discuss wellness in relation to menopause. Suddenly, you’re forced to make lifestyle changes that you didn’t ask for or want. Nutrition and exercise look different. Managing your stress levels becomes paramount because they directly correlate to new unplanned and unpredictable anxious feelings or depressive moods.
And here’s the worst. That motley collection of physical and mental changes causes you to feel differently about sex and intimacy.
Most women don’t plan for when their hot water tank bursts a leak and 40 gallons of water spills out onto the floor. And most women don’t plan for those first symptoms of perimenopause.
Now, you may be in a panic because you don’t know where to start or how to cope. That’s OK. This time period is an opportunity for women to take back control of their health, and self-care involves making this life change the priority.
You have every right to feel good and live a harmonious, balanced life. So, begin pursuing that life today.
